If you've experienced a personal, social, or spiritual revolution, you know the suffering of letting go of the illusionary comforts of race, culture, creed, religion, tax bracket, etc. Both men's lives serve as witness to all humanity of the many opportunities life offers us to be free and let go of these self and otherwise imposed boxes.
