"Goin' ALL Out" Muusic Month with Eric Darius

(14 downloads)

Download this episode (56 min)
Listening to music around the house, Eric Darius always had a passion for jazz. “I’d been playing the saxophone for about one year, before I joined America’s Youngest Jazz Band, which was led by renown trumpeter, Sonny LaRosa. The unique band brought in musicians from ages 5-12, and being in this elite group changed his life. "I was fortunate enough to be part of it for two years.”

Born into a musical family (his father plays bass, his mother and sister sing, and his older brother plays the drums and trumpet), Darius studied at Blake High School of the Performing Arts in Tampa, Florida, where he was a member of the Blake Jazz Ensemble and many other bands the school offered. In 1999, Darius and the Blake Jazz Ensemble were selected to perform at the Essentially Ellington Festival in New York City, where they placed fourth out of the top twenty jazz bands in the United States.

Fast forward to this ride to meet him at the Hollywood Bowl following a performance for nearly 18,000 this past Sunday where he shared the stage with James Ingram, Boney James, David Sanborn, and Ledisi. (I saw him play a few years back at another outdoor arena: the downtown St. Pete First Friday's Jazz Fest)!

His most recent releases are Just Getting Started (2007) and Goin’ All Out (2008). On Just Getting Started, Darius remarks, “Even though each song has its own vibe on this CD, the one characteristic that every song on this CD has in common is – a groove. Every song will make you move!”

From touring the country, to being named the Smooth Jazz Debut Artist of the Year, to making a global impact, hold on to your seats ladies and gentlemen because Eric Darius is just getting started!!! Join the bandwagon at www.ericdarius.com & BE Blessed!

MUUUSIC MONTH: Kicks off with Christina Malone "Travelin Light"

(11 downloads)

Download this episode (57 min)
Because many of us may secretly wonder what it takes to follow the light of muusical inspiration, Muuusic Month highlights the face of God made manifest in artists who shine their musical light.

Christina Malone kicks off Muuusic Month 2008 by reminding us there are as many faces of God as there are facets of light. From her life in an ashram to her astro musings, Christina is an accomplished song writer and musician. First introduced to me by her singing partner sister, Rama, as an astrologer, I was pleasantly surprised to discover her profound talent as a music artist.

She has been studying Astrology for 30 years with various teachers all over the world, in India, Mexico, and France. She has been giving personal natal chart readings for the past 15 years, in New York City and Nashville, TN, and believes Astrology can be used to help people -- by healing health challenges which are revealed in the chart, by showing the best places to live, and by choosing the right planetary hour to go on an interview (or a date!), and to help anyone get the best results out of their life. She can also do compatibility charts to show the strengths and weaknesses in relationships.

What I learned from Christina and her muuusings is that although we now have the light bulb and the perception of Light in those around us, we can still look up to see the Face of God.
